10-year old Prodigy Yuto Miyazawa Overdoses on Pixie Sticks

What a tragedy if this special child ends up not able to perform because of an addiction. Accordin to the article below, his mother says that Yuto was taking in over a pound of pixie stick powder a day. He was uncontrollable at home, jumping off the walls like a maniac. His sickness was affecting his music, his family life and his school work. I sincerely hope that he gets the right help now before it's too late.

10-year old Prodigy Overdoses on Pixie Sticks, Ozzy Again Left to Own Devices

theumpteenthtimes.com:

LOS ANGELES—After capturing the world’s attention by performing “Crazy Train” on stage with the madman himself, Ozzy Osbourne, 10-year old Japanese guitar prodigy, Yuto Miyazawa, has suddenly found himself at the Betty Ford Clinic, the very same place that helped Ozzy recover from alcoholism many moons ago. Miyazawa’s troubles, however, do not stem from alcohol but from an addiction to a substance that can be even more destructive: pixie sticks.

“Yuto was taking in over a pound of pixie stick powder a day,” said his mother, Hija, through a translator. “He was uncontrollable at home, jumping off the walls like a maniac. His sickness was affecting his music, his family life and his school work. Not to mention his Boggle performance. Not many people know this but he is also a genius when it comes to spelling words. Unfortunately with his pixie stick troubles, he went from spelling words like ‘anti-imperialism’ to spelling words like ‘gum’ and ‘bug.’”

Meanwhile, Ozzy, who had already begun writing an album with Miyazawa, has been forced to piece together songs by himself, which unfortunately has never been his forte. This situation mirrors the time Ozzy experienced after Randy Rhodes’ untimely death, when Ozzy felt unsure of his musical future. When asked whether or not he fears that his next album will fall short of listeners’ expectations, Ozzy confused reporters by simply mumbling, “What?! Bloody hell! Who’s that big necktie with the golden duck?”

According to Ozzy’s wife/manager, Sharon Osbourne, Miyazawa’s trouble with pixie powder is a temporary setback and she and Ozzy both expect him to return to form as soon as possible. She denied rumors of Ozzy taking apart a piano to see how it works and insisted that he never entered that 7-11 in Hollywood, claiming he was “The Twinkie Messiah.”

10-year old Yuto Miyazawa joins Ozzy for Crazy Train

Ozzy Osborne likes to talk about all the top guitarists he has been fortunate enough to play with. Well now he has played with one highly-skilled guitarist who will in all likelihood be at the top of his field for many many years to come because he's only 10 years old. Yuto joined Ozzy for 'Crazy Train' at BlizzCon 2009

10-year old joins Ozzy for "Crazy Train"

"Ozzy Osbourne has always talked about how fortunate he is to have worked with some highly-skilled guitarists: starting with Tony Iommi (and does it get any better than that?), that list includes Randy Rhoads, Brad Gillis, Jake E. Lee, Zakk Wylde, and his current sidekick, Gus G.

I’m not so sure Gus should get too comfortable in the new lineup.

There’s a new kid in town.

And he means business.

And he’s 10-years old.

Yuto Miyazawa is a 10-year old Japanese musical child prodigy; he was named 'The Youngest Professional Guitarist' by the Guinness Book of World Records in August, 2008. In the tradition of Hendrix and Van Halen (who were almost never without a guitar in their hands), Yuto is mostly self-taught and reportedly plays all the time; he’s only had a handful of lessons.

In the spring of 2009, Miyazawa made headlines after playing “Crazy Train” on the Ellen DeGeneres Show; Ozzy even showed up to meet the young guitar whiz on the program. Obviously impressed, Ozzy recruited the (then) 9-year old to join him for his gig at BlizzCon 2009.
